Thanet Festival Choir announces Spring concert

Thanet Festival Choir’s Spring concert this year features two works by one of Britain’s best-loved living composers  – John Rutter.

Psalmfest is a wonderfully varied collection of psalm settings, organised into a concert work. From jaunty rhythms to reflective and lushly pastoral movements, this is music in the spirit of King Daviod, with melody and song never far away.

Rutter’s exquisite Requiem, completed in 1985, is traditional in its inspiration and contains some truly beautiful tunes.

The choir is to be joined by prize-winning Soprano Soloist Sofia Larsson, who was Soprano soloist in its recent performance of Messiah. Accompaniment will be provided by a small orchestral ensemble – including a harp and assorted percussion –  and the performance will as always be conducted by Music Director Clifford Lister.

The concert takes place on Saturday, April 1 at Holy Trinity Church Cliftonville, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 in advance and £12 at the door, accompanied children £2. Advance tickets may be obtained from choir members, by telephoning the Ticket Secretary, Barbara, on 01304 620560, or online from www.thanetfestivalchoir.org using PayPal.
