A last minute gig in Cliftonville at one of the world’s smallest theatres has been played by The Libertines frontman Pete Doherty and bandmates Carl Barat and John Hassall.
The Tom Thumb Theatre performance last night (May 23) was announced at 11pm the night before and sold out by the morning of the gig. The theatre holds just 80 people.
The singer was also joined by a pianist and violinist.
The band are the owners of The Albion Rooms in Cliftonville – formerly the Palm Court Hotel – and will headline and curate the final day of this year’s Wheels and Fins festival in September.
The Libertines will be donating proceeds from their appearance to two local charities – Pie Factory Music and the Aspirations Healthy Living Centre.
The Tom Thumb Theatre is run by Sara and Alex Ratcliffe who took on the former Victorian coach house in April 2017.
Sara said: “It was a magic, intimate evening with our new neighbours.”
