A woman in her 50s died in a fire at a Broadstairs property last night (January 8).
Kent Police was called at 6.49pm yesterday to assist Kent Fire and Rescue Service at the scene of the house fire in Rectory Road.
Officers attended and closed the road while the fire was being tackled. A woman in her 50s was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
Five fire engines attended the fire. Crews were still at the scene late into the night. A gas worker was also called in to assess the property.
Kent Police officers remain at the scene this morning.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
