Armed police have detained a man at Dreamland after he reportedly threatened staff

Armed officers deal with the man at Dreamland

Armed police have this evening restrained a man at Dreamland.

People at the park report the man was surrounded by several officers.

It is thought to be connected to an issue of anti-social behaviour. One person reported the man had been abusive and aggressive to staff.

Kent Police have confirmed officers were called to a report of assault at 7.40pm. One man was arrested.

Mum Amy Kate, who was at the park with her little boy,  witnessed the incident. She said the man appeared to have been drinking and was very aggressive. She added: “Dreamland staff done amazingly with evacuating that part of the area for the reason “this is a family park – children should not witness this” and stayed so professional.

“Eventually, after roughly ten minutes, the man calmed down and walked out with the police officers and guards.”

Security

Dreamland bosses reviewed security at the park prior to the opening in the wake of the horrific Manchester attack on Monday (May 22).

A spokesman for Dreamland said at the time: “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the attack at the Manchester Arena on Monday night. The safety and security of our guests and staff is paramount at all times and we have strict safety procedures and protocol in place for the park, whether that be during standard operation or special events.”

Armed officers and Ministry of Defence police have been patrolling isle, and Kent, streets since the tragedy to make sure county residents are safe. Armed officers are also at the park as part of the same security measures.

  1. Would be at all possible for you to report on the thousands of people who have had an amazing weekend in Margate?
Rather than focusing on the tiny minority causing trouble.
    That would be refreshing. Thanks.
