Some properties in Nethercourt, St Lawrence and areas of Ramsgate around High Street, Grange Road and Margate Road, are experiencing low water pressure this morning (September 25) due to a burst main at St Lawrence.
Residents have described ‘water gushing everywhere’ in the area by St Laurence Church and the bp petrol station.
The mains burst is understood to have happened at around 6am.
Southern Water has a crew at the scene.
Traffic is currently slow in the area and it is closed off between the former Wheatsheaf pub and Manston Road.
A spokesperson for Southern Water said: “Our teams are repairing a burst water main on St Lawrence High Street in Ramsgate this morning. We have reduced the flow through the affected pipe while we prepare to carry out the repair and expect work to be completed later today.”
The water main has been throttled to enable a safe repair. Crews are awaiting traffic management measures before work can begin in the road.
Southern Water says it does not anticipate any impact to customers’ water supplies.
