The Ramsgate Road in Margate is closed at the junction with College Road, by the Victoria lights, until June 9 for emergency works by Southern Water due to a leak.
The diversion is via College Road, St Peters Road, Dane Court Road, Westwood Road, Margate Road, Ramsgate Road and vice versa.
Stagecoach Loop and 8 service buses are diverting between Cecil Square and Westwood Cross via St Peter’s Road, St Peter’s and Dane Court Road and Westwood Road, resuming the route at Poorhole Lane.
Some motorists have complained that the signage is not clear and there have been a number of near misses today (June 3).
Add that to broadstairs rd & hereson rd , so southern water bringing Thanet to complete gridlock . Bravo .👏🏼

The organisation of this road closure is appalling no signs yesterday at the roundabouts end of St Peters Rd turning left down to the lights so causing absolute chaos with people trying to turn around, hope there are signs today, seems to me everyone is being diverted to St Peters Rd all the time these days just imagine how much fuel being used for these re routes can we claim to southern water for this chaos

The problem is privatisation. All
Road signs positioning is sub contracted and not overseen by southern water itself. When i was a counsellor i was constantly rectifying mistakes like this in my margate division.
Not a problem indeed. You’ll hit an unfixed pothole instead and be thrown off your bike…
No, I’d get off my bike and push past the roadworks on the pavement… as I do with other road closures.
