A 10-year-old child was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Ramsgate yesterday (March 10).
South East Coast Ambulance (SECAmb) service were called to Princess Margaret Avenue, by Newington Primary, at around 3.30pm followed by police shortly before 4pm.
A SECAmb spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a child outside Newington Primary School in Princess Margaret Avenue.
“Multiple crews, including a critical care paramedic, attended the scene and assessed and treated the child before taking them to a local hospital for further medical treatment.”
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called just after 4pm on Tuesday 10 March to a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Princess Margaret Avenue, Ramsgate.
“Officers attended the scene alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service and the pedestrian, a 10-year-old child, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.”
Poor kid, I hope they get well soon. I was hit by a car at 24 and it shook me up for a long time, so I hope it doesn’t affect them in the way it did me when out and about. In my case the driver was convicted for not paying due care and attention so I was able to get a payout of a few thousand. (Back before the days of dashcam footage – but members of the public called the police and gave statements whilst I was taken to hospital. The driver left the scene but luckily gave me their details first!). I still have scars twenty years on so I feel no shame about suing them afterwards. When they say the child had “minor injuries” can that include broken limbs and concussion, or more cuts and bruises? I’m sure a nurse or doctor on here will know as I always wonder what that means in news reports.
I hope the child recovers soon.
Was only a matter of time the amount of cars parking there at school times
if anyone has tried to drive through this area at peak times its no surprise this awful accident has occured , its a total nightmare of cars parked everywhere , including on the pavements , there is often a complete road block , the police should be there and take action , i wish the child well and hope they have recovered .
Some parents park like absolute morons. On the grass,at tight angles, making pavements unworkable. Absolutely zero consideration for children to cross the road safely. All for the sake of being cutting 30 seconds from their walk. Need to be named and shamed by police.
The way kids walk across roads or are allowed to run onto them , this could easily be read as child hits car that was moving along the road
