Ramsgate Football Club has confirmed that Saturday evening’s (February 28) Isthmian Premier Division fixture against Aveley will be completely free for all supporters.
Chairman James Lawson said the decision reflects both the club’s growth and its long-term vision for the town.
He said: “We are fortunate to have one of the largest fan bases in non-league football. That growth hasn’t happened by accident — it’s come because existing supporters continue to bring friends, family and colleagues with them.
“By moving the kick-off to 5:30pm and making the match free for everyone, we want to make it easier for people to introduce others to the club.
“There are many people locally who work Saturdays and rarely get the opportunity to attend. This gives them a chance to be part of it. For some, it might even become the start of their Saturday evening.”
The club expects a strong crowd under the lights for what is a significant fixture in the closing stages of the season.
Saturday’s match is also being streamed live by Clubber TV as part of the league’s ongoing digital development.
“Streaming revenue will never replace the value of an open turnstile,” Lawson added. “But we’re keen to support initiatives that modernise and promote our level of the game. A high-profile Saturday evening fixture is a good opportunity to showcase non-league football properly.”
Kick-off is 5:30pm at the WW Martin Community Stadium. All supporters are welcome.
The game follows Rams’ 201 win over Carshalton Athletic this week.
