Ramsgate RNLI received its first call out of the year yesterday (January 4) with reports of a person cut off by the tide at Dumpton Gap.
The inshore lifeboat Claire and David Delves was launched at the request of HM Coastguard at 9.59am to the report that the person was wading waist deep in water.
The lifeboat crew carried out a search along the coastline up as far as Viking Bay however the person was not found.
Reports were then received that the person had been found safe and the inshore lifeboat was stood down and returned to station by 10.40am.
Coxswain Ian Cannon said: “We publish the tide times every morning on our Facebook page so please check before setting off to the coast. It is very easy to be caught out by an incoming tide so ensure you always carry a means of communication with you.”
