Stagecoach South East, has launched three vibrant open-top buses serving Thanet’s scenic Route 69.
Sporting eye-catching new designs, including a bold pink livery and a classic seaside-inspired blue, as well as the red-and-cream colour scheme in the new Stagecoach livery, the new buses are already turning heads along the coastline. The updated fleet runs between Ramsgate, Broadstairs and now Margate and Minnis Bay.
Katherine Jones, Commercial Director at Stagecoach South East, said: “We’re thrilled to introduce these new-look open-top buses as part of our extended Route 69. They’re not just a mode of transport; they’re part of the experience. From the top deck, passengers can enjoy fresh air and unbeatable views of Thanet’s beautiful beaches.”

- Weekend
- Bank Holiday
- School Holiday 0 including from now until September 21
A Thanet Open Top Dayrider offers unlimited travel all day along the open-top route for £6. For safety, children under 15 must be accompanied by a responsible adult to travel on the top deck.

Great to see them! Had a little ride last Saturday and, it won’t be the last.
I remember a ride on one with my late father in 1964.
We did it today, Minnis Bay to Cliffsend on the top deck! Wonderful stuff.
On summer holidays to Westgate/Margate in the mid 60’s a highlight was always a trip on the 69 open top bus. Best ride ever was the full trip from Minnis Bay to Pegwell Bay Hoverport to see the huge SRN4 hovercraft, don’t think the route was more than a couple of hundred metres from the sea all the way there so sea views and sea air a’plenty.
This new route goes away from the coast and lovely sea views. What is the point of that?

, seafront all the way to broadstairs then seafront from palm bay to minnis bay . The only time it’s not on seafront is from broadstairs to kingsgate due to low trees and bridges . Some people just can’t be satisfied , simple u don’t like it then don’t use it . I’m sure they can do without your custom as plenty of others are using it , in fact today the top decks were full of passengers when I saw them .
