Armed police and dog units have been in attendance at the top of Margate High Street/ Churchfields today (June 21).
The area at flats near the family hub (former Six Bells) has been taped off. The police drone is also in use.
One man has been arrested while another suffered a cut to his arm, believed to be a stab wound.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to Margate High Street, following a report of an assault.
“Officers were called to the scene at 2.18pm on Saturday 21 June, along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
“A man sustained a cut to his arm and was taken to a local hospital. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
“A 32-year-old man from Margate has been arrested and taken into custody.
“Officers remain in the area while enquiries into the incident continue.”
It is the second time in three months that a major police presence has been needed in the top end of the High Street.
In April a violent altercation took place in the block. Four men were arrested in connection with that incident.
Eyewitnesses report nine armed police, six police cars and a van attended the scene.
Section 34 dispersal orders have now been put in place for 48 hours as part of ongoing work by Kent Police to disrupt antisocial behaviour in both Margate and Broadstairs.
It follows the use of the powers already in place in Broadstairs which remain in force until Sunday afternoon.
Kent Police say: “The orders have been implemented due to ongoing concerns relating to issues caused by a small minority of young people in some public areas including the town and beach areas. These have included under-age street drinking, fighting and reports of aggressive behaviour towards staff at shops.
“Under Section 34 of the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act, officers can use the additional powers to instruct people to leave the area and anyone who returns after being dispersed risks being arrested.
“Our officers have also been granted additional authority to stop and search individuals in Margate under Section 60 of the Public Order Act.
“The dispersal orders cover the two town centres as well as the seafronts and surrounding streets and the public can expect to see additional patrols working together to reduce the risk of further offending and target those causing nuisance behaviour.”
Can TDC not come to the logical conclusion that there are some tenants that really don’t deserve cheap housing, chuck them out and bring some stability back, the other residents don’t deserve to live with this.

Always the bad apples, most tenants here are good people, a final warning is needed and no excuses/court appeals if they blow it!
Rumour on the street is that it was an argument over a £10 bag of crack. The stabbing was to the victims hand. In the world of drug dealing such injuries are inflicted to enforce drug debts. Stab wounds to arm,leg,hands or buttocks show intent , are painful and inconvenient but very unlikely to do serious harm. A small screwdriver being a favoured weapon ( unlike a knife if caught with it on your person easy to have an excuse and much harder to be prosecuted for, unless of course you’ve just stabbed someone with it).
The drug dealing that goes on outside the “Green shop” is rife ( the junkies line up on the wall waiting for their delivery)
Locals believe that the old rise facility in the old british legion is still being used surreptitiously to accomodate some rather undesirable people, whoever manages it doesn’t seem to care about the rubbish that’s strewn from their bins on collection day. That end of the town is slowly but surely turning into junkie central. Doesn’t bode well for when the Rise facility moves from cliftonville to Grosvenor place.
Before anyone starts, i’ve no problem with helping people or that they have substance abuse problems, it’s the behaviours they inflict on the areas they frequent that i object to and the lack of any official intervention to deal with it.
They are never going to look like SWAT.
