An extensive search was carried out in the early hours of this morning (June 21) after reports of a woman in the sea between Ramsgate and Broadstairs.
Ramsgate inshore lifeboat, Margate D class lifeboat, coastguard teams and the Coastguard helicopter undertook a thorough search after launch at 3.39am.
They continued to scour the area until being stood down at 7.17am.
A Ramsgate RNLI spokesperson said: “The inshore lifeboat launched at 3.39am. An extensive search was carried out but nothing found and it was stood down at 7.17am.”
A HM Coastguard spokesperson added: “I can confirm that the coastguard helicopter from Lydd, coastguard rescue teams from Margate and Herne Bay, and RNLI lifeboats from Margate and Ramsgate assisted.”
The crews were assisting Kent Police and the force has been asked for further details.
