Kent Fire and Rescue Service sprung into action to rescue Snoopy the dog after he tumbled down a steep bank in Broadstairs yesterday (June 5).
One fire engine and the KFRS Animal Rescue Unit attended the incident at 8.16am.
Crews used an Arizona Vortex to abseil down the bank to gain access to the bottom, whilst Faversham Animal Rescue Team, using a dog catch pole, then got Snoopy into the rescue bag and hoisted him back up to his owners Paul and Anne.
Gary Miller, Station Manager – Technical Rescue Tactical Advisor for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, was on the rescue team.
He said: “We urge all dog owners and walkers to be cautious near high, unguarded open edges where there is a potential fall from height, and to stay clear of such areas when out and about at all times of year. As a team, we’re very happy to have helped reunite Snoopy with his owners.”
Snoopy is doing well and owner Paul said: “The KFRS crews were brilliant! They quickly arrived, assessed the situation, and used their equipment to safely hoist little Snoopy up – who was very happy to be back with us.”
The crews finished at the scene at 10.40am.
As the recently departed Rick Derringer nearly said-Hang on Snoopy, Snoopy hang on.
Poor Snoopy! It was actually at least a 30 foot drop into a disused industrial water tanker, that was thankfully empty. The fence that surrounds it is unfortunately broken. Snoop been to the vets and none of us can believe it, but he’s been given the all clear.
So pleased Snoopy is ok.
