Michael and his younger brother Sam travel with their recently divorced mother Lucy to the small beach town of Santa Carla, California, to live with her eccentric father. Michael and Sam begin hanging out at the boardwalk, which is plastered with flyers of missing people, while Lucy gets a job at a video store run by a bachelor, Max Lawrence. Michael becomes fascinated by Star, a beautiful young woman he spots on the boardwalk, though she seems to be in a relationship with the mysterious David, the leader of a young biker gang.
The Oval Bar will be onsite serving a wide selection of drinks including beer, prosecco, wines, spirits, cocktails, and soft drinks. Hot drinks, cold drinks, popcorn and cinema treats will be available at The Oval Kiosk and Bar. card payments preferred.

A journey which began in the underground warehouse party scene of early 90s London, and went on to see Phillip’s giant fluorescent paintings exhibited all around the globe, finds its next chapter played out in Margate’s Pie Factory, with a retrospective of his work.

Talk on Saturday 7th June
Remembering Dunkirk (Operation Dynamo) – by James Brazier.
James will talk about Margate’s hugely important role in the evacuation from Dunkirk- the massive rescue effort by the Royal Navy and civilian volunteers during WWII, rescuing over 338,000 British and Allied troops from the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk, France, between 26th May and 4th June 1940. James will also talk about the local service men who lost their lives in Operation Dynamo and about the local commemoration of Operation Dynamo since 1965.
This event will take place at Christ Church United Reformed Church, Westgate Bay Avenue, Westgate-on-Sea, CT8 8SN. Doors open at 10am and the talk starts at 10.30am. Tea/coffee and scones will be available to buy together with publications about the history of Westgate-on-Sea. Non-members pay £2 on the door.

St Peter’s – The Big Bike Revival (free bike fix)
7th June, Pavillion Community Cafe in St Peter’s, 9am – 11am
The Bike Shed Mechanics will be at The Pavillion Youth Cafe at St Peters Recreation Ground to fix any bikes that you’d like to get checked over before riding this summer. They can do repairs on tyres, breaks and chains for free and give advice if it is a bigger repair.
This is also a great way to meet cyclists and to find out about the Big Bike Revival Rides this summer.

Margate Cultural Walking Tour

Forest Bathing and Tea Ceremony

Experience the peace of Forest Bathing at Monkton Nature Reserve
The purpose of the exercise is to provide a solution to the ‘tech-boom’ burnout and to inspire people to reconnect with, and protect the country’s forests. Forest bathing can be as simple as walking in any natural environment and consciously connecting with what’s around you.
This session will be led by Monkton Nature Reserve’s volunteer, Vicki, who has studied the art of Forest Bathing.
