Kent Fire and Rescue Service and an ambulance crew were called to Minster today (April 29) after a small plane emergency landing.
Crews attended the incident in a field off Thorne Hill at 12.24pm.
One person was passed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance service.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of an emergency aircraft landing, near Manston Airport.
“Fire engines attended, with crews taking precautionary safety checks and making the area safe. One person has been passed into the care of SECamb.”
Crews finished at the scene at 1.12pm.
A South East Coast Ambulance service spokesperson said: “SECAmb were called shortly after midday yesterday (29/04/25) to reports of an emergency aircraft landing near Manston Airport. Crews assessed and treated one patient at the scene with minor injuries before discharging them from our care.”

There have been several events with planes landing as well as individual examples. Largest has been a Dakota DC3 and there is a YouTube video of a guy having permission to see how many landings/takeoffs he could manage in his light aircraft within the length of the runway. I think he managed 4 but could have probably done 5 safely.
I imagine that were the plane airworthy enough, it would have landed at the ex airport. It’s no more legal/illegal to land in a field than on a strip of concrete

It can, and does, operate quite legally without being licenced. Hundreds of airfields operate like this.

The Central Scrutinizer, what are you mumbling on about. It was filmed by a dog walker. It’s in the national press. There’s no requirement to have a transponder on.
