Cross Keys Learning, an independent special school in St Peter’s for students with Autism, is celebrating after achieving a “Good” rating in its most recent Ofsted inspection.
The school says it is a significant milestone that “ reflects the school’s dedication to providing a supportive, inclusive, and high-quality educational environment for its students.”
The Ofsted report highlighted the school’s commitment to meeting the needs of its students, emphasising personalised teaching approaches, strong leadership, and a nurturing atmosphere that encourages growth and development.
Inspectors commended staff for their dedication and the students for their enthusiasm and achievements.
The report says: “The proprietor body, staff and the board of governors are unwavering in their commitment to provide pupils with a good quality of education. The proprietor body has worked tirelessly to securely embed the improvements noted at the time of the school’s previous progress monitoring visit.
“They have established rigorous systems to monitor and review all aspects of the school’s work. This means that together with the experienced governors, the proprietor body knows well the strengths of the quality of education and what needs to continue to improve further.”
The school has also hosted a special visit from Broadstairs town Mayor Mike Garner, who took the time to meet students and staff, tour the facilities, and admire the impressive work produced by the youngsters.
A school spokesperson said: “The visit was a delightful experience for everyone involved, with students proudly showcasing their projects and discussing their favourite aspects of the school.
“Parents and carers have also shared their excitement about the achievement, praising the school’s dedication to providing a bespoke education for children with Autism.
“Cross Keys Learning continues to look ahead, striving for even greater success and ensuring its students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a supportive and understanding environment.”
Cross Keys Learning caters for youngsters aged 11- 17 years old who have special educational needs. The school also has a site at Womenswold, Canterbury.
