Part of a street in Ramsgate was taped off by police in the early hours of this morning {November 7} following an assault where a man was left with critical injuries.
Kent Police was called shortly after 1am following the incident in Harbour Street. Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to a London hospital with critical injuries.
A 43 year old man has since been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Depends on how you look at it, given that Ramsgate has been rated one of the most dangerous places in the country for violent crime then yes it might be said violent crime is not that common, but that in Ramsgate it’s far more likley to happen than in other areas.
Surely any rational person would consider the rate of violent crime in Ramsgate to be unnaceptable and that intervention is needed, to constantly say it’s not a problem and it’s ok because it’s not something i see is just denial that said problem exists.

But on my excursions into and around Ramsgate, no matter what time of day or night, I don’t actually see any violent crime. Just townsfolk going about their business.

Glad I don’t live there, though if it was up to me I’d get out of Thanet completely (Isle of Man or some of the better parts of Northumberland particularly appeal).
Thanet doesn’t even come in the top ten of most dangerous places in the uk, not even the top twenty.

Perhaps violent crime is under reported in the more salubrious areas of our fair isle with honest english fisticuffs on points of honour satisfied with a simple knockdown. The victor offering a hand up whereby all parties, conflict resolved retire to the nearest gentlemans club to bond over a foaming ale or three. Nothing to see here

1 incident is truthfully sad . Let alone several.whether it’s induced by drink or drugs or just a violent incident doesn’t make it right.hope the injured person will be okay. But our towns have just become flats and houses so all types of people are about now late at night where as yrs ago town centres were quiet after dark now id say there unsafe .?

I have not witnessed any crime in the years I have lived here. And I’m not afraid to go out and about.

You are such a predictable bore. Most people in Wetherspoons are not criminals in the same way most people on a bus are not. Why make such a remark? I presume it makes you feel smugly superior. There’s a saying in policing “20% of the population use 80% of resources” and in more recent times it’s been said that in thanet around 50% of police “interactions with the public” have a mental health component.
A comprehensive breakdown of who did what , where and when would no doubt make for very interesting reading if it were brocken down at all levels, it’d also likely prove to be very inconvenient.
The best example that comes to mind was the FOI request to the parliamentary standards department asking howm many mp’s had criminal convictions, which at the time was over 40%, when that figure was asked for again several years later , the reply was that – the information was no longer collected- , which is rather convenient.
Just as the information regarding the suspect in the Southport stabbings has been muddled and had various definitions applied in order to get a narrative the authorities prefer. Few mere mortals would come to the same conclusions, but fortunately for our leaders people are soon distracted by a bit of news about celebs or the price of beer.
King Street is commonly conmected to weird and wonderful happenings, one person living there describes it as the new Athelstan Road ( ie an alternate reality where the inhabitants quite happily coexist in a state of disorder and mayhem that onlookers just don’t understand and view aghast, drugs, casual threats of and use of minor violence, dependant on benefits, pyjamas, slippers and dressing gowns being the 24/7 garments of choice all being perfectly normal for those living in the area).
