Meet the author for Salute To Margate’s Winter Gardens book signing in Westgate

Eager fans of Thanet’s nostalgia have a chance to meet author Nick Evans in Westgate this weekend when he will be signing copies of his latest book.

Nick will be ready, with pen in hand, to chat to anybody buying copies of his book A Salute To Margate’s Winter Gardens, at Westgate Galleria, Station Road, Westgate, from 11am to 2pm on Saturday 12 October.

A Salute To Margate’s Winter Gardens includes photographs of its construction and the wide range of events held there. A colour section features Winter Gardens posters produced between the 1950s and the 1970s.

Nick said: “The book includes more than 100 photos of the place including its construction, early years, wartime periods and posters from its heydays between the 1950s and 1980s. It’s a remarkable record of a much-loved building which will make a great present for yourself, friends and family as we head towards Christmas.

“My Winter Gardens book is the tenth I have written and published during the past four years, which is quite a milestone by anyone’s standard. Nine of them have concentrated on some aspect of Thanet’s past and I’m very grateful to all those who have bought copies for supporting these ventures.  It takes a huge investment in time and money to bring just one book together, let alone 10!”
