Peter and Yvonne celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary

A party has been held at Shottendane nursing home in Margate to mark the Diamond anniversary of couple Peter and Yvonne Fisher.

A card from the King and Queen, food, music and presents were received to celebrate an amazing 60 years of marriage.

Peter and Yvonne met as neighbours in south east London and were married in Camberwell on October 2, 1964. The couple moved to Birchington in 1965.

Peter, 90, did his national service with the RAF and later worked for BT. Yvonne, 88, has worked in jobs from banking, a fruit and veg market company, BT and a stint at Pelosi’s ice cream parlour. The couple have two sons, Richard and Terry, and four grandchildren- Samantha, Kerensa, Joshua and Lee.

Peter remains at their home in Birchington while Yvonne now lives at Shottendane nursing home after becoming poorly.

Son Richard said: “ They used to love going on cruises and river boats and loved gardening. Mum used to paint a lot and Dad likes his model trains.

“They are lovely parents and a lovely couple. They are devoted to each other and love each other to bits.

“They have always been very close and do everything together, just a real old school couple.

“Shottendane made a lovely day for them. They put on some food, had music, there were presents and Mum had flowers. It was a really nice day.”

Shottendane activities co-ordinator Julie Cullip added: “Peter and Yvonne, happy anniversary from everyone at Shottendane nursing home.”
