A person, understood to be a young male, has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after an incident at the Stone Pier in Margate today (June 23).
Paramedics, police and air ambulance were called to the pier at 1.30pm to reports of a person in trouble in the water. Witnesses say a youngster had been jumping from the pier wall.

A South East Coast Ambulance spokesperson said: “SECAmb was called shortly before 1.30pm today (23 June) to reports of a person in difficulty in the water at the Stone Pier in Margate.

“Ambulance crews attended and the person was given emergency treatment before being taken to hospital for onward transport to London by the Air Ambulance Charity Kent, Surrey, Sussex in a serious condition.
“We would like to thank all those who assisted at the scene prior to our arrival.”
A Kent Police spokesperson added: “Kent Police was called at 1.28pm on Sunday 23 June to a medical incident at The Pier in Margate. Officers attended the scene where they assisted paramedics.”
