An exploration of identity is the theme for an exhibition of art and podcast pieces which culminates in a finale performance at Margate Arts Club this week.

For a finale to his work artist, actor, martial artist and professional wrestler Philip John Bedwell is holding a live performance, titled A Soft Call for Attention, alongside music from Margate band pink suits at Margate Arts Club.

This takes place at the club, 276 Northdown Road, Cliftonville, on October 10th at 7pm.

Tickets are £3, book via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/embracing-identity-performance-with-pinksuits-tickets-1014444158787

Embracing Identity is a project looking at society’s expectations of character, personality, beliefs, values and ageing in creativity and in life.

Rather than the common focus on gender, the project looks at similarities, accepting differences and building connections.

Philip draws on his varied disciplines, upbringing and working-class background to question the authenticity of self. He has exhibited his art for over ten years throughout Europe and has lectured at Kings College London.

He also appeared on Sky Arts Marina Abramović Takes Over TV and starred in Carnesky’s Tarot Drome event in London

The themes in his project represent significant parts of his identity: Wrestling, noise performance and hearing damage, nature, upbringing and acting. Each results in an artwork to view online alongside a live podcast to discuss the work.
