SpeakUpCIC art and craft exhibition to mark World Mental Health Day

SpeakUpCIC event

Members of mental health support group SpeakUpCIC will be holding an arts and crafts exhibition next week.

The works have been created to mark World Mental Health Day (October 10) and will be on display at the King Street Studio and Gallery in Margate from October 7-11.

SpeakUpCIC provides a range of peer support groups and activities from Margate Media Centre. The aim is to connect people with others to reduce social isolation and help improve mental health and wellbeing. The group is part of the Live Well Kent & Medway organisations.

Peer support enables people to meet with others in a safe space so they can share experiences and coping strategies while participating in various activities, such as art, crafts, gardening, and creative writing.

The exhibition is in partnership with Looking Ahead (Specialist Needs Support) who have given the use of the gallery.

It is open to all, October 7-11,  Monday noon-3pm and Tuesday to Friday 10am to 3pm.

World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10 October. This year’s theme set by the World Federation of Mental Health is workplace mental health.

The theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations, and communities.
