Samba bands, floats, youth organisations, dancers and a host of weird and wonderful costumes will once again feature in Margate’s carnival parade.

Mahogany Creative Arts and the Great British Carnival will join local groups and organisations for the parade on Sunday, August 5.

Last year crowds packed the route to see the event led by David Sanger of Sangers Stage Show, which made the 200-mile pilgrimage from Stonehenge to join the event.

This year a record 115 applications were made to take part this year.

An event spokesman said: “The parade will consist of Mahogany Creative Arts, Great British Carnival and Samba Bands as well as local floats and organisations. We will have visitors from all over Kent and the South East in the parade. “

      • I did the guide to Ramsgate Carnival already, and Ramsgate Festival of Sound and Ramsgate Summer Parade, so you’re right, it’s not all about Margate (I live in Ramsgate by the way)

  1. Barry is a Margate councillor
Maybe have a word with one of the councillor’s from Ramsgate about sponsoring an event
