You are invited to the volunteer's fair at Westwood Cross

Interested in being a beekeeper, festival helper, running a hospital film club, being an archaeological digger or visiting an isolated older person?

Thanet Volunteer Bureau invites you to Grosvenor Casino, Westwood Cross Shopping Centre, on Wednesday, April 26 from 11am-2pm for a massive volunteer’s fair and mini-awards ceremony.

Find out what’s going on in your community and how to get involved.

Entry is free, there’s free giant raffle, free refreshments and stalls with activities to try from wildlife and brain quizzes to knitting bunting!

Speak directly to more than 50 Thanet groups looking for volunteers in everything from health and social care, criminal justice, advice and advocacy, culture, leisure, working with animals, children, disabilities, the environment and much more.

Stallholders may have information that could help you too.

What does volunteering involve?

Volunteering is generally committing time once a week to support a cause you feel strongly about. It could be spending an hour a week with an isolated older person having tea and a chat, a monthly meet up with a young person in care, two hours helping a volunteer-run community garden or it could mean social media help, website maintenance, administrative support. There are lots of choices.

There is also a chance to talk to the volunteer bureau about your volunteer experiences or to nominate a volunteer you know for the Kent-wide Volunteer awards ceremony in Winter 2017/18.

Organisations at the fair:
