A woman in a mobility scooter and a man in his 70s have been assaulted and robbed in Margate.

The woman in her 40s was travelling along Addington Street with the man  walking alongside.
It was reported that they were approached by a man and both victims were assaulted and the woman’s purse containing cash and cards was stolen.

The suspect then reportedly assaulted a second man who had tried to intervene, before leaving the scene in the direction of Union Row.
The incident was reported to have taken place between 8.30am and 9am on Wednesday (5 April).
The woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A 27-year-old man from Chatham was arrested today ( Friday 7 April) in connection with the incident and currently remains in police custody.
