The open top bus has been out ferrying passengers to the Ellington Park May fayre today and two open-top bus routes will be running in Thanet from next month.

Stagecoach will be running the number 69 bus on the same route as last year between year between Ramsgate Boating Pool and Broadstairs Stone Bay.

The new number 37 bus will take passengers from Margate Rail Station to Palm Bay.

Both routes will operate every day from mid-June up to and including Sunday 3 September.

Open-top buses were first introduced in Thanet in 1959 and ran every summer throughout the 60s and 70s before services declined in the 1980s.

Stagecoach reintroduced the service last year to mark its 100th anniversary.
