The Falcon Inn at Westwood is shutting down

Landlord Louis Mayhew is closing The Falcon Inn

A Westwood pub is to close just four months after it was taken over by a new landlord.

The Falcon Inn, formerly the Grog Wench, in Margate Road opened on July 7 with landlord Louis Mayhew at the helm.

The 24-year-old businessman carries out refurbishment works and hosted a series of events at the venue.

But he has today (November 16) announced that the pub will shut tonight after a leaving party.

In a social media announcement Louis, who is also co-director of Falcon Electrical and Security Ltd, said: “We would personally like thank each and every person that has visited us and we wish you all the very best and hope you all have a great Christmas.”

Louis, from Palm Bay, said the venture had not been turning a profit and so he had made the decision to close.

He added: “I will be focusing on the electrical company and my other new companies.”

The leaving party will be from 6pm and all drinks will be at discounted rates.

The Falcon Inn is at 460 Margate Road, Broadstairs (Westwood).

  1. Sad although I don’t drink, this is my “Local”…..So much effort and money has been invested, it’s sad to see it close.

  2. This place would really work as a Chinese buffet , something Thanet has,nt got ! Car parking too , Why not, could be a great business opportunity !

  3. The pub had a bad reputation under a previous management which would have been hard to change. Once it has that there is usually no going back or forward. The guy gave it a go and good on him for trying.
