Sixteen-year-old Isaac Dilkes has been made captain of the Kent U17’s cricket team at the Kent Academy.

Isaac hit his highest score of 189 for Kent U17’s vs Essex U17’s at Beckenham on July 18.

The Thanet teen joined the Kent Academy as a scholar last October and has been training hard on his technique over the winter. He is playing Kent League cricket for Broadstairs first team this season and has hit three half centuries for them so far.

Isaac said: “My dad plays cricket so I have been around it since I was a baby and I started playing with a hard ball when I was about 6 or 7.

“It is a really tough game as sometimes you put in a decent performance personally and still lose. I have been playing in the Kent league for the Broadstairs CC first team this season and I want to focus on scoring runs consistently and hopefully making a few big scores for them this season.

“I would love to play professionally for Kent when I am older.”
