Thanet GCSE results: King Ethelbert School

King Ethelbert School is celebrating another set of fabulous GCSE grades this year with students making excellent progress at every level.

The new specifications in English and Maths means it is impossible to make direct comparisons to last year’s results however, despite the raising of the academic bar, over 50% of students at King Ethelbert got a standard pass or higher in English and Maths.

The new 8 and 9 “grade” for English and Maths is exceptionally hard to achieve but several students attained this figure in both subjects.

Head teacher Kate Greig said: “We are very proud of the achievements of our Year 11 cohort who worked hard to get these excellent grades.  We have fantastic staff who work hard to ensure success for each individual and both students and staff deserve a massive amount of praise.

“This year the new specifications meant even greater things had to be done by the students but they rose to the challenge.  We are delighted by the outcomes that these students so thoroughly deserve.”

The GCSE examination results come on the back of top IBCP sixth form results achieved at the school in July.  King Ethelbert School is one of the top performing schools in Kent.

Vicky Willis, deputy head teacher said: “If the students work hard they achieve fantastic results because we have such an excellent staff team to make this happen.  It is a time or celebration once again”.
