Leon Williams and East Kent Entertains return to Broadstairs this weekend for an afternoon of Summer Salsa fun.
Leon, from Kingsgate, who has over 40 years of dance experience, first brought the event to Broadstairs last Summer.
Providing not only general Salsa but other, similar musical genres for attending patrons, Leon is looking forward to making this an annual event for a community who’ve not only taken to the afternoon soiree, but are clamouring for more.
Leon said: “This was actually done on a whim with the community wanting to do something outdoors.
“Last year, which was our first doing this, was a huge success so, with it being the start of the summer holidays, and hopefully some good weather, then it’s the perfect time.”
With interest coming from across Kent this year’s event will likely see a bumper crowd at the venue which overlooks Viking Bay. Dance troupes from Folkestone, Canterbury and Maidstone, among others, will head to the coast for sun, sea and salsa with Leon promising that, and more.
He said: “We’ve had more interest in this year’s event and it’ll be great seeing people out there for 3-4 hours just listening to music, and maybe even joining in.
“There’ll be different styles of music on offer, mini dance classes and so much more as we’re looking to create a kind on mini-Notting Hill styled event.”
Victoria Jenkins, Senior from Broadstairs and St Peter’s Town Council, added: “It is an afternoon where people can come along and join in, or just watch.
“The Salsa crowd is always an enthusiastic one, whatever the weather.”
The free event takes place this Saturday (July 22) at Broadstairs Bandstand from 1pm.
