State-of-the-art security installed at Mill Lane car park

The security system in Margate’s Mill Lane car park has been bolstered with new state-of-the art cameras in the stairwells.

The cameras provide high image definition and will help in the identification of anyone suspected of causing vandalism or any other crimes within the building.

The superior image quality will help enforcement officers  identify offenders and will be used as evidence in court.

In addition to a better quality of image, it will be possible to access all the video feeds and recordings remotely meaning that officers can review incidents when required.

Cllr Lin Fairbrass, Cabinet member for Community Safety and Environmental Services, said: “The upgraded security equipment will let us more easily identify those responsible for committing a crime in the car park, and ultimately act as a deterrent to others. We have also cleaned and painted the stairwells, meaning a more pleasant and welcoming area for residents and visitors to Margate.”

A similar programme of redecoration and security upgrade will also be implemented at the Royal Harbour car park – formerly Leopold Street car park – due for completion in December.

  1. This is good news. Especially if it can be used with facial recognition software. Let us hope that all the CCTV cameras in Thanet will be upgraded to provide more than a fuzzy image of a blob in a hat.
