The Southbeats Festival will not be returning to Birchington this year.

Ten thousand people headed for the village last September for the first event which featured 40 acts, four stages and a fair.

But there were long queues when ticket scanners initially failed to work and residents complained of their gardens for toilets by drunk youngsters, bad language, littering, noise and drug use.

Festival-goers had praised the event saying it was well organised with quality acts and only a minority of people had caused issues. It had been expected to return to Birchington this September but has now announced a move to Port Lympne animal park in Ashford.

The festival will run on  Saturday 23rd September, from noon until 11pm,  and will again feature 40 acts and four stages.

Organisers announced: “After a sell-out first year, Kent’s biggest music festival returns for 2017 and we’re moving to our new home – Port Lympne Reserve!”
Details on the festival, and job opportunities, are due to be revealed soon at www.southbeatsfestival.com and here
