Road closure while crews deal with Birchington storage unit fire

Fire crews are at the scene of a storage unit fire in Birchington.

The blaze in Canterbury Road was reported at 2.51pm today (July 11).

The unit is storing scaffolding boards and poles, as well as a light goods vehicle. All are alight.

Crews are using a cold-cutting firefighting system, a main jet and a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze, along with water supplied from a hydrant.

Kent Police are also in attendance.

Crispe Road/Seamark Road has been closed while the incident is dealt with.

There are no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known.
