Thieves have broken into a private storage unit at Manston and stolen items including rifles.
The crooks targeted the unit last night.
The goods belong to the Allied Military Vehicle Preservation Society (AMPS ). Member Ewan Taylor (pictured below) has appealed for information to track the items down.
He said: “A number of tools were stolen and, more importantly, two 303 SMLE Lee Enfield rifles and one aluminium replica 50 cal machine gun, along with a few helmets.”
Other items taken include a steam cleaner and compressor. The culprits also smashed into all the lovingly restored vehicles and ‘tagged’ a tank.
The stolen tools are used to keep and restore a collection of vintage World War Two vehicles.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police is investigating a reported burglary at Manston.
“Police officers received a report that between 3pm on Friday 29 December and 10am on Saturday 30 December, offenders brokn into a business premises off Spitfire Way where they stole three deactivated guns, an imitation firearm and a quantity of tools.
“Anyone who has any information that could help is asked to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 30-0289.
“Alternatively contact Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
