A Ramsgate mum and nan diagnosed with terminal cancer has presented the Viking Day Unit at QEQM Hospital with a gift after her family raised £650.
Maggie Cummings, 62, is a frequent visitor to the unit and the former youth worker’s granddaughter Elysia Bradley, 10, decided she wanted to do something to say thank you to the amazing staff.
Maggie’s husband Steve said: “ Elysia really wanted to do something to raise money for some more medicine for her Nanny. They came up with the idea of holding a Winter Wonderland Christmas display in the garden last December and raised an amazing £650.
“Maggie wanted something that was really needed at the unit and it was suggested that swivel chairs for the staff would be ideal and these had to be of a specific design and standard.
“We managed to get four and handed them over on Thursday.”

Viking Day Unit is a 12- chaired chemotherapy unit. Anti-cancer treatments are also administered at the ward, as well as supportive treatments such as blood transfusions.
