Police release woman arrested in Margate after a postman was hit by a car

A woman arrested on suspicion of drink-driving yesterday (January 6) after a postman was struck by a car in Margate, has been released.

Postman Vince Marsh, in his 50s, was airlifted to King’s College Hospital in London following the incident at 10.42am.

Police were called to reports a car had hit a pedestrian and other vehicles in College Road.

Vince, from Birchington, suffered serious injuries. His son Rodney told The Isle of Thanet News that his dad has serious head and leg injuries but was conscious yesterday afternoon and awaiting hospital results.

Work colleague Gary Taylor said Royal Mail employees were shocked by the incident. He said: “We are certainly all shocked at Margate delivery office. We all wish Vince a full recovery.”

A 43-year-old woman from Margate was arrested on suspicion of drink/driving. She has been released pending further enquiries.
