Police are at a property in Broadstairs following a fire last night (January 8).

Five fire engines attended Rectory Road at 6.34pm

A neighbour has reported apparent issues with the flames reigniting and firefighters needing to break windows.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said last night: “KFRS crews have been mobilised to a fire in three storey terrace house in Rectory Road, Broadstairs.

“Firefighters using breathing apparatus, hose reel and main jets have been fighting the fire and now have it under control and are checking for hot spots and any fire spread.”

Crews were still at the scene late into the night. A gas worker was also called in to assess the property.

It has not yet been confirmed whether anyone had been in the property at the time of the fire.

Kent Police were also at the scene, closing the road while firefighters tackled the blaze. Officers remain outside the property this morning.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Officers attended and closed the road while the fire was being tackled. The road has since reopened but officers remain at the scene.”
