Police investigation after a woman is robbed outside a Ramsgate infant school

Police were called to a robbery outside a Ramsgate infant school today (May 15).

A woman had her bag taken by a man, who witnesses say was brandishing a knife, outside Priory Infant School in Cannon Road.

The  assailant and an accomplice  dropped the bag after being shouted at but escaped.

One witness posted a warning to facebook, saying: “Be careful in Ramsgate and be on the lookout for these guys.”

Kent Police confirmed officers are investigating the incident.

A spokesman said: “Kent Police is investigating after a report of a robbery in Cannon Road, Ramsgate, at noon on Monday 15 May.

“Two men approached a woman and demanded she hand over her handbag. They took the bag but then dropped it and made off empty-handed.

“Both men were described as white and tanned. One was in his 30s, had a beard and was wearing a black tracksuit. The second man was described as in his late 50s and was wearing dark jeans and a black Puffa-style jacket.”
