The premises licence for 555 Pizza in Ramsgate – now apparently renamed YSY- is likely to be revoked.
Kent Police has requested a review of the licence which is held by convicted rapist Tamim Rahmani.
In May Rahmani, Shershah Muslimyar, 20, formerly of Hovenden Close, Canterbury; Rafiullah Hamidy, 24, formerly of High Street, Herne Bay; and a teenager were found guilty of raping a 16-year-old in a room above the food outlet in the early hours of Sunday 18 September 2016.
The victim had been out with a group of friends in Ramsgate but left them in the early hours with the intention of walking to another girl’s home in Cliftonville.
Vile attack
On the way she was approached by a group of men, whom she asked for directions. Instead they led her to Rahmani’s flat, where she was raped before being escorted back out of the building.
Two members of the public returning from a night out invited the victim into their home after they found her crying in the street. The incident was reported to police shortly afterwards.
Convicted rapist
Chief Inspector Sharon Adley, of Kent Police, has asked for the action to be taken to prevent crime and disorder and public nuisance and the protect public safety and children.
In her statement to Thanet council’s licensing committee Ch Insp Adley says the licence “has been breached in the most serious terms.
“Rahmani, the premises licence holder, is now a convicted rapist.
“The premises licence has stayed in Rahmani’s name for this whole time. No effort from him or his family in getting this changed. He is eminently not a suitable person to hold any premises licence. Following the arrest and ongoing court case there has been significant public interest in the premises.
“Police have been called to demonstrations outside the premises and have concerns regarding future demonstrations and the potential for future disorder outside.
“The police believe revocation is the only alternative to this premises licence.”
Thanet councillors will review the case at a meeting on August 17.
Rahmani and the other three men will be sentenced on September 8.
