Police appeal over spate of deliberate fires at Ramsgate towerblock

Trove Court and Kennedy House are among those that will receive works

Kent Police is appealing for information following a spate of suspicious fires at a block of flats in Ramsgate.

Firefighters have attended Trove Court in Newcastle Hill several times over the past two months due to fires inside a rubbish chute that they believe are being started deliberately.

Police officers visited the flats on Wednesday (17 May) along with representatives from Kent Fire and Rescue Service and East Kent Housing, where they carried out door-to-door enquiries and provided safety advice to residents.

Sergeant James Ross, of Kent Police, said: “While the cause of these fires is currently unknown, the belief is that they are being started deliberately.

“I would like to remind people that starting fires is not only incredibly dangerous and puts lives at risk, but that it also potentially diverts resources away from other more serious incidents.”
