Police appeal for witnesses after death of a man hit by transporter on the Thanet Way

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash on the London-bound carriageway of the A299 Thanet Way near Dargate today (April 10).

At 9.09am Kent Police received a report of the collision involving a pedestrian and a Scania car transporter.  It is reported that the pedestrian, a 54-year-old local man, was standing next to a grey Porsche Boxster which was parked off the carriageway when he was struck by the car transporter.

The exact circumstances of how the incident happened have not yet been released by Kent Police.

Police officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the car transporter or the man standing next to the Porsche immediately prior to the collision.

The London-bound carriageway between the Whitstable turn-off and Brenley corner will remain closed for a number of hours.
