The annual Queen’s Head New Year’s Day dip on Ramsgate Main Sands has taken place.

Rain didn’t put off the crowd of dippers who rushed into the sea at midday. They were caught on camera by photographer Malcolm Kirkaldie.

All those taking part  then enjoyed soup, rolls and live music at the Harbour Parade pub afterwards.

All proceeds from the dip go to Ronald McDonald Houses.

One of those to successfully take part was Ramsgate dad Joshua Carr. The challenge was Joshua’s way of thanking the Ronald McDonald charity, which provides accommodation for families with children in hospital, after it helped his family through a traumatic time during Christmas 2014.

On Christmas Eve that year Joshua and partner Vicki Morriss took their 9 week old son Freddie to the doctors after he became very ill with bronchitis and was having difficulties breathing and feeding.

Freddie was taken to hospital and ended up being transferred to King’s hospital in London. The charity provided Joshua and partner Vicki Morriss with a place to stay so they could be close to their son.
