Young people who have been out of work or education for at least a year will exhibit work at Turner Contemporary.
The Talent Match photography exhibition will be held on November 4-5 and 10-11 and includes photos taken by 11 young people aged between 18 and 24 who attended a support programme.
Established in 2014, the Talent Match programme is a £108m national investment by the Big Lottery Fund designed to support long-term unemployed young people back into work or education.
Two 6 week workshops took place this summer with the young people taking pictures around Kent,Medway and Thanet. As part of the course, the youngsters learnt about shooting street photography using professional camera equipment from Ben Bowles of Benjamin Film Photography.
Joe Stirrups (above), one of the young people who completed the programme, said: “I really enjoyed the course and the people in it and learning the different ways to take photos. It made me realise that photography could be my future. I can’t wait to see where it takes me next.”
Organiser Ben Marsh-Allen, of The Prince’s Trust, said: “This was an opportunity for young people to explore their career options and think about the realities of work in the creative industry. The end output has been of such a high standard, we felt compelled to find a way to display it to the public. Thank you to Turner Contemporary for their support on this project.”
