A show by the only big band performing the music of Glenn Miller that has direct family links to the musician will be one of the highlights of the Battle for Victory event in Ramsgate.

John Miller is the nephew of big band leader Glenn who disappeared when the plane he was in went down while flying over the English Channel in 1944.

The John Miller Band will be playing on the second day of the two-day event at Ellington Park this July.

The performance is the only one scheduled for the band this Summer so it will be a rare chance to hear them play.

Other attractions include a military and vintage vehicle display, wartime reenactors, stalls, bars, barbecue and a NAAFI wagon and vintage funfair and miniature steam engine rides.

Talent performing across the two days includes Kent’s Swingtime Sweethearts, dance group Air Raid Jive, the Viper Corps of Drums and more.

The will be a live arena and stage events.

The 1940s/50s themed fun runs on July 9 and July 10. Gates open at 10am each day and entry is £2.
