Outdoor cinema comes to Dreamland this Summer with two film screenings taking viewers back to 1987.
American comedy/horror The Lost boys will be on the big screen on August 26.
The 1987 film stars Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann, Alex Winter, Jamison Newlander, and Barnard Hughes.
The film is about two Arizona brothers who move to California and end up fighting a gang of young vampires. The title is a reference to the Lost Boys in J. M. Barrie’s stories about Peter Pan and Neverland, who, like the vampires, never grow up.
The next night (August 27) romantic dance classic Dirty Dancing is on the screen.
The movie, also from 1987, stars Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the lead roles, as well as Cynthia Rhodes and Jerry Orbach.
Both movies will be shown from 6pm to 9pm by the Scenic stage. Entry is free.
And if you fancy a bit of outdoor opera then Semele is being shown on Ramsgate beach on July 22 as part of the Ramsgate Festival.
Semele is a love story in which the god Jupiter (performed by British tenor Robert Murray) is captivated by the beauty of the all-too-human Semele (sung by Heidi Stober making her UK debut). It features some of Handel’s most exquisitely beautiful music, with soaring choruses and splendid orchestral writing.
It will be screened from 7.30pm to 10pm and is free to attend.
