New sports courts opened at Birchington Bowls Club

The courts are now open

New sports facilities have been opened at Birchington Bowls Club.

MP Sir Roger Gale cut the ribbon of the new all-round sports courts on Saturday (October 21).

The club raised £26,000 for the project which was made up of funding from Kent County Council, interest free loans for the LTA, club funds, a generous donation from  resident Alan Bown and a community grant from  KCC Cllrs Emma Dawson and the late Ken Gregory.

The club is now hoping to install some 5-a-side goal posts.

Parish councillor Phil Fellows said: “This is a much-needed facility for Birchington for all the family that will truly be a village asset.

“Birchington now officially has the best all round sports courts in Thanet.”
