Power cut

Some 1,375 properties, mainly in Margate and Westgate, have been affected by a power cut today (November 7).

The outage is due to an underground cable that has faulted.

It affects properties in the CT8 8,CT9 5,CT9 X and CT9 4 areas of the isle.

Engineers are currently at the scene to repair the fault.

It was reported to UK Power Networks at  10:44am. Estimated time for the power to be back on is between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

One resident said it is causing “chaos” in Margate with “shops closing, cash points non working and Coffin Corner traffic lights out- chaos.”
