Margate man behind bars for series of horrific sex offences against children

Jailed: James McCaw

A 26-year-old man from Trinity Square in Margate has been jailed for 16 years after he was found guilty of multiple sex offences, including rape, involving children between 2007 and 2008.

James McCaw was found guilty at Canterbury Crown Court on 13 February of attempted rape, rape, assault of a child, sexual assault of a child and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

McCaw was sentenced to a total of 16 years in prison on Monday 10 April.

Detective Constable Jennifer Brightman said: “We are pleased McCaw is now in prison after committing these terrible crimes and urge anyone who has ever been the victim of an unreported sexual offence to contact us.

“Kent Police will always be sensitive when investigating incidents like this and will do everything possible to protect children.”
