Stagecoach will expand its popular ‘kid for a quid’ offer from this half term.
The £1 add-on ticket will now be available to use with any adult single or return ticket, or concessionary bus pass.
The £1 ticket was introduced last summer, allowing children unlimited travel for one day when accompanied by an adult day or weekly ticket holder. Stagecoach says the ‘kid for a quid’ was immediately popular; over 6,000 sold in the first week.
From 11 February customers with an adult single, return or concession pass will be able to benefit too, just in time for the half-term break.
Philip Norwell, Stagecoach managing director for the South East said: “We have lots of customers who want to travel with their children or grandchildren, especially during the school holidays. We recognise travel costs can be a burden on family budgets which is why we introduced the ‘kid for quid’ last summer.
“Now we’re able to take it further and open-up the offer to anyone with an adult ticket or concessionary travel pass.”
Children (aged 5 to 15) will be able to travel for just £1 each for the whole day when using the bus with someone who has an adult single, return, day or period ticket, or council issued concessionary bus pass. Stagecoach says the new arrangement will be welcomed by both regular and occasional bus users who will benefit when taking younger family members for a day out by bus.
