Family fun and live music was at the heart of an outdoor festival that raised money for CRY, Cardiac Risk in the Young.
The Newington Rocks event was hosted by Newington Community Primary School, Ramsgate, in its grounds last weekend, and it attracted nearly 800 adults and children.
The festival raised £1,700 for the charity and the event was so successful that a date has been set for a follow up festival next summer and musicians are already being lined up.
The varied music programme featured performers on two stages – Jaz, Funkle Pie, Einstein’s Children, and Moonlight entertained from midday to 6pm non-stop.
Attractions included inflatable gladiator challenge arena, soccer skills, face painting, ride-on lil’ jockeys, and outdoor play zones.
Refreshments available included soft drinks, fish and chips, popcorn, ice cream and candy floss, with many families basking in the hot summer sun to enjoy a picnic.
Head teacher Cliff Stokes said: “This was a brilliant event that drew together the community to support a thoroughly worthwhile charity. We had great support and raised a fantastic amount of money.
“One parent told me that it created a real community village feel, which is lovely. It was friendly fun afternoon.”
Mr Stokes thanked the organising team, staff who helped run stalls, plus other stall holders, sponsors, musicians, Thanet Council and everyone involved.
“They were all magnificent and cannot be praised enough,” he added.
